SUMMARY:Adult Electives - Faith In Action: The Biblical Mandate to Write for Justice
DESCRIPTION:Join the DEI Team in the Parlor at 10:30 am\, as we work together to remind our lawmakers that the treatment of the immigrant is a direct reflection of our nation’s moral health. Use the “power of the pen” to urge Congress to correct what has gone wrong with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Grounding our postcards and letters in the biblical mandate to care for the stranger turns our personal faith into a political force. Help protect the vulnerable and demand our congress to choose compassion and justice over increased detention. Leviticus 19:34: The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself. \nYou can write your own message or use what’s provided. Specific scripture suggestions\, writing suggestions\, and a list of our representatives will be available. Postcards\, pens and pencils will be provided.

SUMMARY:Adult Electives - Caring for Friends
DESCRIPTION:Caring for Friends is a 50+ year old volunteer organization.  We have one focus…to feed people.  In 1974 our founder Rita Ungaro Schiavone\, started to serve those in need in her neighborhood by cooking homemade meals\, freezing them and then visiting with them while bringing the food.  She believed that no one should be hungry or alone in a world of caring people.  This home-delivered meal program is the base of what became Caring for Friends. \nOur organization currently supports over 250 food pantries throughout the 5 counties of Philadelphia as a food bank. Delivers meals to hundreds of seniors and homebound individuals using her initial “visitor” methodology.  Supports senior low income housing building and schools through pantry building and communal meals. Provides the materials for outside organizations\, like yours\, to cook meals\, prepare snack bags\, make sandwiches or collect food.  We have mobilized one of the largest volunteer bases in the area (over 10\,000 strong) to help serve the universal mission of feeding those in need. \nWe will be on hand Sunday March 22 during Adult Electives to explain how you can help those in your community. Together we can take a “bite” out of hunger in Philadelphia. Please join us to learn more.

SUMMARY:Adult Electives - Seed to Supper Program led by Keystone Opportunity Center
DESCRIPTION:Are you wondering why there is a pile of wood chips in Zwingli’s front yard?  Join us during adult electives on March 29th to learn about Penn State Extension’s Seeds to Supper Program\, how it serves those in need within our community and how Zwingli is partnering with Keystone Opportunity Center and the Extension’s Master Gardener Program to serve our community.  The Seeds to Supper Program is an in-depth\, beginning gardening program that provides novice and more experienced gardeners the tools they need to learn how to successfully grow a portion of their own food on a limited budget.  Keystone Opportunity Center sought to implement this program in Souderton to help those in our community who suffer from food insecurity to grow their own fresh vegetables to supplement their family’s nutrition.  Please join Master Gardener (and Zwingli neighbor) Stephanie Cross and Keystone Opportunity Center’s Director of Development\, Kristine Evina\, as they outline the operations and goals of the program and how Zwingli’s partnership is vital to its success. \n

SUMMARY:Bobby Jo Valentine Concert! Heart-Opening Folk/Pop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the free concert on Sunday\, March 29 @ 6:30 pm \nA free-will offering will be taken. Proceeds to benefit the Asylum Pride House \nCatchy songs with good tunes and intelligent\, thoughtful lyrics in the tradition of Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens.   – Stephen Schwartz\, Creator of Wicked and Godspell \nBobby Jo has both the spirit and songs that bring us back to believing. Whatever our faith\, he has the humor\, compassion\, words\, and music to help us believe again.”\n–Dar Williams \n  \nBobby Jo Valentine’s music exists outside the lines of any genre\, but the music’s thoughtful\, spirit focused lyrics and catchy melodies reach listeners across all walks of life. The poetic nature and spiritual focus of his stories and songs has resulted in notable awards and a growing\, loyal following around the country.  He’s found a voice with original\, hopeful songs about the gentle everyday spiritual awakenings of an openhearted life. \nGrowing up and emerging out of a Baptist Church of strict lines and sharp edges\, Bobby Jo Valentine has emerged into a larger\, kinder\, more welcoming faith…one that is excited to learn\, open to growth\, and focused on love. \nAlong with theatres\, house concerts\, and many other kinds of stages\, Bobby is often invited to offer his stories and songs at faith communities around the nation. Among others\, he has been invited to perform for The Wild Goose Festival\, the international Emerge Conference\, and the 2017 General Synod of the United Church of Christ. His music has won Song of the Year twice at West Coast Songwriter’s Association\, and his work has appeared on radio\, TV\, and feature films. He has performed artist residencies\, hosted songwriting workshops\, and been involved in helping communities of all types use their spaces and voice in more creative and powerful ways. \nBobby currently hails from Northern California\, and is ecstatic any time he can discuss the big questions\, challenge the easy answers\, and inspire people to move closer to love. \nYou can hear music\, watch performances\, and get information on catching a show at www.bobbyjovalentine.com \n  \n
